Somerset Health & Wellbeing in Learning Programme


The Somerset Health and Wellbeing in Learning Programme supports the local authority, schools and settings to keep health high on the agenda, ensuring that it remains an important part of the school experience for every child, and particularly for those with the greatest need.


The programme sits within Somerset County Council’s Public Health Team and draws on local experience, national guidance and evidence-based research to commission services, run Public Health campaigns and influence decision making at a strategic level.


The programme also provides:


  • The Somerset Children and Young People’s Survey (SCYPS) and Public Health needs analysis – providing health-related data to schools
  • The Mental Health Toolkit and health-related resources and information via
  • Training and CPD – developing a Public Health practitioner workforce
