Somerset Parent Carer Forum

The Somerset Parent Carer Forum are the go to organisation for parent carers and families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Somerset. The work they do focuses on the following areas:

Enabling families to have a voice -  the forum team work with professionals in the local authority and health to improve services for children and young people with SEND

Enabling families to support themselves - the forum provides support groups, events and a telephone helpline to support parents in all aspects of caring for a child or young person with SEND.  Their website provides valuable information about the local issues that are important to parent carers such as accessing education, health, benefits and family life.

Enabling families to support each other - the forum team organise local groups and workshops to bring parent carers together for practical and emotional support.
