Cannabis use in the UK is increasingly linked to serious mental health issues, with daily consumption associated with depression, anxiety, reduced motivation and a fivefold increase in the risk of developing psychotic disorders, particularly among young people:
Ketamine is often referred to as a ‘horse tranquiliser’, due to it being used to treat large domestic animals but it is also used medically for humans. It is a dissociative anaesthetic used medically for induction and maintenance of anaesthesia. Ketamine misuse creates several layers of social harm, beyond its physical and mental health risks.
