Somerset Parents and Carers of SEND Learners were invited to take part in a series of workshops to learn about the new statutory guidance in relation to Relationships and Sex and Health Education (RSHE) 2025.
Research shows that SEND learners maybe more vulnerable than their peers to harmful sexual behaviour, sexual abuse, exploitation and violence, bullying and other issues. An inclusive RSHE curriculum is essential for these pupils, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health needs or learning disabilities. (DFE, 2025)
In collaboration with SEN:SE and Somerset Parent Carer Forum, the RSHE workshops were led by Alice Hoyle, national RSHE Specialist, who has over 25 years’ experience working with schools to strengthen their RSHE provision and embed inclusive practice.
