Somerset Schools Wellbeing & Arts Project

As part of our support to help children and young people’s wellbeing, using creativity and arts to process their experiences of the pandemic, in 2022 we launched Somerset Schools Wellbeing and Arts Project.

This project has now ended, and we are very pleased to share this Schools Wellbeing and Arts Project Celebration E-zine.

This resource captures and celebrates some of the work of organisations and schools across Somerset, helping to bring creativity and arts to the whole school approach.

The first stage of this project saw a commissioning of creative and artistic organisations who worked directly within schools as artists in residence within local areas. Details of these organisations and schools they worked with can be found HERE.

A second stage of this project offered schools an opportunity to apply for funding towards a wellbeing and creative arts project up to maximum of £1,000 per school. School's who applied for and received funding can be found HERE.

The project supported schools to further their journey in adopting a whole school approach to mental health through creative arts and using the Somerset Wellbeing Framework.

The framework includes The 3 Pillars Of Wellbeing  that represent key areas that support resilience and positive mental health. We asked schools to base their creative project on one of the pillars which are: Belonging, Relationships, Lifestyles.

We also welcomed Chloe Raeburn who worked with SCC Participation and Engagement Team, as a Young People’s Health and Wellbeing and the Creative Arts Champion.

Chloe was supported to work alongside our artists in residence and schools, capture the views and experiences of young people as they journeyed through this project.
