Every year, throughout the country, children in Reception (aged 4-5 years) and Year 6 (aged 10-11years) have their height and weight measured by school nurses. This is called the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).
Parents/carers in Somerset can request a feedback letter, which can be accessed around 3 weeks after a child has been measured. Locally, Somerset Council uses the information from the child measurement programme to help plan services to promote and achieve healthy weight in childhood.
If you have any queries please contact the School Nursing Team -

SPLASH offers a supportive and non-judgemental approach, understanding that weight and health in children can be an emotional topic to discuss.
The focus of the support is on learning new skills, building confidence and understanding more about food, activity and well-being, with a focus on the areas that are most important to you.
