Coparenting Every Day (CoPE)
This course is for parents while still in a relationship but can be completed with separated co-parents if they are able to manage attending together.
The programme runs over 7 sessions of 1 to 1.5 hours each and focuses on the co-parenting relationship, including:
· Individual assessments for each parent where you can discuss your goals and well-being
· Co-parenting expectations and experiences (how you were parented, attachment, your children’s needs)
· Causes and triggers of family conflicts
· Communication styles and what you as parents want from the relationship (love languages, handover practicalities, mentalizing capacity)
· How you manage ‘Tuning in’ to each other and/or the children. Self-care and coping with stress. De-escalation techniques
· Potential barriers and solutions planning ; further support and local signposting
· Ending: reviewing goals, reflections for future relationship maintenance
Eligibility Criteria
· This programmes is not suitable for couples, together or separated, where domestic abuse has been an issue, including coercive control.
· They will be screened during the initial assessment.
· The programme is voluntary, and the parents need to be willing and able to engage. Parents should not feel obliged to undertake a programme as part of a safeguarding or court ordered plan.
